Helicopter Workshop for High School Students
Interested in learning more about helicopter pilot training, from the aircraft to the training courses to the career paths? Hillsboro Heli Academy will be offering a Helicopter Workshop this June for high school students who complete their sophomore, junior, or senior year in 2026.
The workshop will take place June 16-19 from 9am-12pm at our Troutdale Campus. On Friday, all students are invited to attend our student and staff barbeque lunch from 12-2pm.
Topics include: helicopter training courses, helicopter flight controls, basic aerodynamics, weather decision making, and helicopter maneuvers.
As space is limited for this workshop, interested students must complete the application below. If accepted, Hillsboro Heli will contact you with more information. The cost to attend the workshop is $200 and includes a demo flight on the last day.

What are the application requirements?
- Completed their sophomore, junior, or senior year in high school in 2026
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident
- Weigh no more than 220 pounds (this is an aircraft limitation that we must adhere to)
How do I apply?
Complete the application form on this page. If you are accepted, you will be notified within 2 weeks of submitting your application. You will then be invoiced the $200 registration fee.
Can I apply if I am under 18?
Yes, but we will need your parent's contact information, and they will need to sign some documentation prior to the workshop.
Will I get a chance to fly a helicopter?
Yes, all students in the workshop will have the opportunity to take a demo flight in one of our helicopters on Friday. A demo flight gives you the opportunity to experience flying in a helicopter with one of our flight instructors.
